Darryl Kobler, son of Raymond and Charlotte Kobler, was born on January 15, 1936. He died on January 30, 1961 when his navy fighter jet crashed near Catalina Island, CA. Darryl is buried in Lenora South Cemetery, Lenora, KS.

Darryl Kobler Killed In Plane Wreck In California
Lt. (JG) Darryl F. Kobler, 25-year-old Navy flier from Hays, Kansas, was killed Monday when his jet fighter crashed at sea a few minutes after he took off from Miramar Naval Air Station.
Lieut. Kobler was on what was supposed to be a 40-minute training flight. Coast Guard patrol boats found his body, a life jacket and the wreckage of his plane 11 miles west of Catalina Island. The air station said it lost radio contact with him 18 minutes after he took off but he gave no indication of being in trouble.
Daryl’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Kobler, live at 2307 Main St. in Hays.
Mrs. Kobler is the former Charlotte Cutting, Lenora. The Koblers had four sons, Dean, Daryl, Gilbert and Ardon.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday afternoon from the First Methodist Church in Hays. Burial will be in the Lenora South Cemetery.
